The "German silicon valley" is in Karlsruhe

It is where Heinrich Hertz discovered electromagnetic waves, and the first e-mail to Germany was received here: Karlsruhe has been and still is an ideal breeding ground for seminal developments in information and communication technology. Karlsruhe bears the nickname “German silicon valley” for a reason – what other city can boast more IT companies than streets?

Rooted in Karlsruhe as a center of technological innovation

From the very start, CONET ISB GmbH has been firmly rooted in Karlsruhe, Germany’s epicenter of technological innovation, always in touch with the latest research. As a spin-off of the former Technische Universität – what is now the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) – it is a matter of course that we use the latest insights in software development and process modeling directly for our customers’ benefit.

To that end, we work closely with the respected FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik (IT Research Center) and are active in the FZI board of trustees. We are also members of the management board of CyberForum, a network with currently more than 1,000 members that was named the leading IT network in Europe.

J2EE and .NET – this is our world

We rely on JavaEE (formerly J2EE) or .NET platforms for developing solutions. In the Java sector, we use the entire range of open source technology, as well as the established JavaEE (formerly J2EE) environments by Oracle/BEA, SAP, and IBM. In the .NET sector we use the common Microsoft tools.  This automatically guarantees sustainability and greatest possible openness to development of every software product we design.

When we choose a platform, it is crucial that it not only translates specific requirements into IT processes, but that our customers’ general technical framework and operational conditions are also integrated into the application.

With this in mind, we developed our own architecture framework, the ISB individual software modules, which reflect our know-how, gathered in many projects and industry-specific environments. This way, our customers can always be sure that the peculiarities of their very specific “world” are completely integrated into the software development.

The ISB individual software modules

Drawing on many years’ experience, we have developed a basic architecture framework for individual software solutions. On this foundation, a set of modules was built that contains proven technologies for every level of architecture: from libraries and frameworks to complex elements like ePayment and eSignature. All technologies are available for the leading architecture aspects of Java and .NET.  Depending on customer requirements, we use open source components as well as commercially available products.

This framework lets us optimize the application development cycle in projects, which accelerates the projects and ensures their success. We also cover a wide range of competences, so we can design projects with maximum flexibility from the very beginning.

Better analyses. Better decisions.

Business analytics reveals connections, transforms data into meaningful information.  For ISB, business analytics is much more than structured compilation of past data; it rather gives us an analytical view of the future, lets us make predictions, and allows us to point out interactions among individual decisions.

Analytics is the key to more competitiveness, assures planning dependability, and forms the basis for sustainable corporate landmark decisions.

CONET ISB GmbH supports its customers throughout this complex process:

  • with complete project support with reporting, data warehouse, data mining, business analytics and predictive analytics
  • with analytics tools and techniques by renowned manufacturers or from the open source environment
  • with many years’ project experience in numerous sectors of public administration and industry

This turns reports into strategic options and puts a face on masses of data.

Space for decisions

It is estimated that 80 % of all digital data has a spatial reference. When meaningfully visualized and linked in geographic information systems (GIS), this information is a foundation for sustainable decisions: for instance for environmental laws that are based on complex analyses and model calculations, or for corporate strategies that follow parameters like traffic infrastructure, traffic intensity, and metropolitan areas.

We have been successfully creating GIS applications for the environmental, agricultural, water management and traffic infrastructure sectors since the late 1990s. Unlike many of our competitors, who primarily sell standardized products, we address the entire GIS spectrum with individual solutions that ideally combine functionality and economy:

  • Methodology
  • Process planning
  • Infrastructure
  • System integration
  • Analysis

Turn your spatial data into space for your vision! We’ll be there to help.

Standardized but still individual

More and more companies and public authorities of all sizes use SAP for their core processes. However, there are still some processes that cannot be covered with “off the rack” software. Either the right product does not (yet) exist, or users are not willing to force their processes into the framework of such applications.

This is where we come in. We have completely integrated individually developed software into the SAP world in numerous projects, not limiting ourselves to data integration but integrating entire processes as well. All applications – those provided by SAP and those individually programmed – appear to the user as a single surface.
